This is a brilliant book by Judy Nunn and my first 5★ read of As an Australian, I had heard of Maralinga and knew that it was the site of nuclear bomb testing at some point in the 20th century, but I wasnt aware of the details or of how it may have affected the native Aboriginal people/5.

Walter Kaufmann (born 19 January in Berlin) is a German-Australian writer of Polish origin. Kaufmann (born Jizchak Schmeidler), son of a Polish-Jewish woman called Rachela Schmeidler, was adopted by the wealthy German-Jewish couple Dr.

Sally and Johanna Kaufmann at the age of his adoptive parents were eventually murdered in Auschwitz, Kaufmann fled to England Born: Jizchak Schmeidler, 24 January (age 95), Berlin. His third bestselling book, Maralinga, lifted the veil of secrecy thrown over the British atomic bomb tests in the outback and shocking human experiments in Australia in the s and s.

His fourth book, Commandos, examined the most daring secret raids behind enemy lines by Australians and New Zealanders in World War II/5(21). Maralinga was the scene of UK nuclear testing and was contaminated with radioactive waste in the s and early s.

Maralinga was surveyed by Len Beadell in the early s, and followed the survey of Emu Field, which was further north and where the first two tests were conducted. On 27 SeptemberOperation Buffalo commenced at Maralinga, as Emu Field was found to be too remote a nates: 30°09′S °35′E /.

Australian Book Society, Melbourne The curse of Maralinga and other stories. Seven Seas Publishers, Berlin American encounter. Seven Seas Publishers, Berlin Beyond the green world of childhood. Seven Seas Publishers, Berlin Werke in deutscher Sprache Wohin der Mensch gehört.

Verlag Neues Leben, Berlin Der Fluch Author: Walter Kaufmann. The stories that are told in the book never cease to make readers laugh out loud, and as they are based on true stories and experiences, this makes the book even more comical to read.

The story keeps the reader hooked throughout, Maralinga Man is a fantastic short novel that is highly entertaining and comical from start to finish/5.
